Walking from Harry Reid International (LAS) to the Las Vegas Strip

As the industry leading Atlantic City Podcast, we get one question more frequently than any other: Is it possible to walk from Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) to the strip?

I looked online before our corporate retreat to Las Vegas and the internet was quite mixed on this question. Some people said it was doable but difficult, and others just outright said that it’s not possible or reasonable. So I decided to do a little bit of the investigative reporting that we are known for.

And the answer is… it’s really very easy.

The only hard part is leaving the immediate vicinity of the airport:

This image is from Google Maps, with the red lines added by me. If you want to make this walk you should leave the from the departures/check in area. I did not and left near exit 17 in the baggage claim area (which was for Limo pick up as of April 2023), and had to play a little unnecessary frogger on the airport grounds.

If you leave from departures there is a sidewalk you can walk down, just follow the red lines (and the green line provided by Google maps). The only area where I had to play frogger again on this route was the area of the green circle, but I suspect I could have walked a little extra and crossed legally at the intersection if I wanted.

Once you cross Kitty Hawk Way there is a sidewalk running along the ramp there that takes you out to Paradise Rd, where there will be sidewalks the entire way back to the strip.

Google says the walk was about 3 miles, and it took me a little under an hour, with a quick stop to eat/drink at an Einstein Bagels on Tropicana Ave. and a run in Liquor World to buy a couple fifths of Whiskey.

I don’t think you should necessarily do it mid afternoon in August, but on a 70 degree day in April it was extremely pleasant.

So don’t let the internet stop you if this is something you want to do! It’s really not bad!
