About Us

We spent so much time talking about proper blackjack techniques, casino openings and closings, comped rooms in Atlantic City, and potential-but-unlikely Vegas trips that we decided to create a blog. Despite our prolific output (10 posts in three years), we realized what we really enjoy is talking about Atlantic City and the casino business with each other, so we started the Due For A Win podcast in November 2015 and have been recording our discussions every other week since then.

Kyle plays a lot of Blackjack, Pai Gow Poker, Pai Gow Tiles and Jacks or Better, and he has an unreasonable love for crappy old casinos like Imperial Palace and the Atlantic City Hilton but hates slightly newer crappy casinos like Excalibur. He spends his time thinking about things like limiting house edge, and he scolds Craig for defying the Wizard of Odds’ recommendations. He once sat at a video poker machine in the Caesars Atlantic City high limit slot room for more than six hours straight so that he could earn Total Rewards Diamond status in one day.

Craig spends too much time studying Blackjack basic strategy for the amount of time he actually spends playing Blackjack. He’s also a closeted penny slots player and thinks Dam Lumberjack Beavers is hilarious. When he’s not obsessively checking his Total Rewards room rates, he’s longing for the return of animatronic characters to Wild Wild West or planning his next big purchase from Peanut World. Before his first trip to Atlantic City, he told a friend that he figured he’d leave town thinking, “that was fun enough but I honestly never need to go again.”

Kyle and Craig both have MBAs in things totally unrelated to the casino or hospitality industries, but that won’t stop them from mentioning it as though it makes them authorities on the subject.

“Due For A Win” is a reference to gambler’s fallacy, or the mistaken idea that probability tilts in your favor after a streak of losing hands because the odds of losing many hands in a row are low.

    Kyle and Craig,

Just wanted to stop by and say I love the Podcast. I’m 27 and have been going to AC at least monthly since I turned 21. I have an odd love for gambling and casinos in general (my right arm is covered in a gambling tattoo sleeve), but an even deeper obsession with AC in general.
Whether I’m there alone, or with my buddy or a big group, it doesn’t matter. There’s just a weird sense of calm and nostalgia being in that city. I’ve never met anyone else who shared that same love, until I found your guys’ podcast about a week ago. You guys get it.
I’m currently in the middle of binging through all the old episodes and catching up. But I just wanted to drop you guys a line and let you know you have a new fan! I don’t use twitter much, but I’ll hook up with you guys on IG and facebook and maybe I can make it out to a meetup one day. Keep up the awesome work!

    Don

First time listener and I love your podcasts. It’s a shame you guys don’t play craps which in opinion is the best casino game. Anyways, keep it going. I really enjoy the conversations you two have.

Hi guys, are YOU TRYING to tell me that the name “due for a win” isn’t a reference that the actual city of Atlantic City has literally always been due for a win? Don’t lie to me!!!!!!!!
